Denmark's reputation in tatters Before the climate talks in Copenhagen, Denmark was a country that had a good reputation for paying high regard to civil society and fair global governance. But as the second week of the climate talks starts its reputation is in tatters. We can report that the Danish Prime Minister has been arranging yet more back-room meetings in a desperate effort to stitch up a deal - however dodgy - to show off to the 100 World leaders arriving at the talks on Wednesday. Email the Danish Prime Minister now. Last week we exposed the dirty dealing that created the Danish Text . Over the weekend hundreds of innocent civil society protestors were also arrested for no good reason as they tried to call for a strong fair agreement at Copenhagen. Meanwhile the Danes were hosting an exclusive meeting of around 40 delegates to discuss the finer points of their unfair proposal, excluding many representatives from the poorest countries of the World. Last week your action forced Denmark to promise transparency and honesty. One week on and the Danish Prime Minister needs reminding again that back-room deals are not part of a strong and fair outcome at Copenhagen. He needs to be told that this week he can regain a positive reputation for his country - and the best outcome for everyone at the Copenhagen talks - by acting fairly, honestly and transparently. Thanks for all your help. Steph PS. Thanks to your actions over the weekend, we now have hundreds of solidarity messages to present to the President of the G77 today. Thank you. | ||||||||
